Clear Spring Therapy for Chronic Pain and for Palliative Care
The Stepping Stones Programme Towards Pain Relief and Recovery
This programme is suitable for people living with:
- Chronic or persistent pain
- Pain that has outlasted injury or medical treatment
- Pain worsened by stress, anxiety, or fear
- Conditions such as back pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, pelvic pain, or medically unexplained pain
- Pain that has begun to affect sleep, confidence, mood, or quality of life
- You don’t need to believe “it’s all in your head” — because it isn’t.
- Pain is real.
How the Programme Works
The programme is delivered over 8 structured sessions, each building on the last — like stepping stones across water — helping you move steadily forward at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
You’ll gain understanding, practical skills, and confidence, while learning how to support your own recovery between sessions.
My approach focuses on reducing pain-related fear, because when fear softens, your nervous system calms down and pain becomes less intense and less frightening.
We do this by:
Understanding the complex nature of pain –
Learning how pain works in the brain and the nervous system — and why pain does not always mean damage in the tissues
Providing reassurance –
Helping your brain feel safer, reducing hyper-vigilance and constant threat monitoring.
Reducing fear-based patterns –
Gently addressing the fear-pain cycle that keeps pain locked in place
Using Hypnotherapy to calm the nervous system –
Hypnotherapy helps create a deeply relaxed, focused state — sometimes described as a “sleep of the nervous system” — where the body can let go of tension and respond more easily to positive change
Blending CBT and Mindfulness –
Enabling you to change unhelpful thoughts about pain, relate differently to sensations, and feel more in control
Learning Pain Reprocessing principles and the powerful technique of somatic tracking –
Introducing you to the very latest science on how the brain responds to pain and how it can be re-trained
The aim of this treatment is simple and compassionate. My mission is the relief of pain and suffering

In Palliative Care
The approach adopted by Clear Spring Therapy for palliative care is slightly different to that for chronic pain. But it still draws on the unique blend of Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness and Pain Reprocessing Therapy and provides compassionate, emotional and cognitive support during this time. It helps individuals understand how thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations interact and amplify physical symptoms. It also provides evidence-based tools to ease anxiety, lift low mood, reduce distress, and restore a sense of steadiness and personal agency. CBH does not deny the reality of illness; rather, it strengthens psychological resilience, supports honest emotional expression, and helps people focus on what remains meaningful and within their control.
Where appropriate, pain-reprocessing-informed approaches are used to reduce fear and hyper-vigilance around pain and bodily sensations. These techniques aim to calm protective pain responses and reduce stress-driven amplification — always alongside appropriate medical care.
My approach does not replace medical treatment. Instead, it focuses on reducing suffering, restoring a sense of safety, and helping people live more fully and comfortably, even in the presence of serious illness.
In palliative care, even small shifts in thinking and coping can significantly improve quality of life. The goal is not to remove what is difficult, but to help you face it with greater calm, clarity and inner strength.
What do these journeys look like?
These are journeys with many stepping stones to navigate but I am here to guide you. Each step brings you nearer to renewed hope and confidence, improved function and better quality of life.
All sessions are online from the comfort of your own home, preferably via Zoom; but other forms off communication can be explored such as WhatsApp or telephone support.
You will be given access to many resources to equip and enable you as you navigate your way through the sessions and the changes you will experiences. I provide you with educational material and practical material such as audio recordings and exercises that will help you learn how to relax on a very deep level in order to gain the most advantage.
Typically sessions last for 75 minutes and committing to a package of 8 sessions is the recommended route in order to start seeing some tangible benefits from the therapy. However each treatment plan is tailored to the individual so other options can be considered.
