FAQs

Your pain is real. Always.
Pain is produced by the nervous system, and it is influenced by many factors: including injury or clinical conditions, past experiences, stress, fear, and how safe or threatened the body feels. Understanding this does not minimise pain; it gives us more ways to reduce it.

When the nervous system feels under threat, it becomes more sensitive.
Fear, worry and constant monitoring can amplify pain signals, keeping the body in a protective state. This creates a cycle of pain → fear → more pain. Reducing fear helps calm the system, which often reduces pain intensity and distress.

Hypnotherapy helps create a deeply relaxed, focused state — sometimes described as a “sleep of the nervous system.”

In this state, the body can let go of tension and become more responsive to reassurance and positive change. Hypnotherapy does not mean going into a trance or removing control; it supports your natural ability to regulate pain and calm the nervous system.

No.

You remain aware and in control throughout. Hypnosis is not something done to you — it is something you actively choose to take part in, in line with your values and comfort.

The approach I use combines evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Hypnotherapy and Pain Re-Processing Therapy. All of which have been heavily researched and found to be highly effective.
This blended model is widely used in pain management because it addresses both the psychological and physiological aspects of pain.

The aim of treatment is the relief of pain and suffering.
For some people, pain reduces significantly or disappears entirely. For others, pain becomes less intense, less frightening, and less dominant in daily life. Almost everyone reports improved confidence, calmer sleep, and a greater sense of control.

Many people I work with feel exactly the same way.
This work does not replace medical care — it adds something different: understanding, reassurance, and nervous system regulation, which are often missing pieces in chronic pain treatment.
