Chronic Pain Therapy & Palliative Care Support with Clear Spring Therapy
Living with pain or serious illness can feel exhausting, frightening, and isolating. It can affect sleep, confidence, mood, relationships, and your ability to enjoy everyday life. At Clear Spring Therapy, I offer compassionate chronic pain therapy and specialist palliative care support designed to reduce suffering, restore steadiness, and help you move forward one gentle step at a time.
Chronic pain therapy: a gentle path towards relief
Using a blend of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Clinical Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, and pain reprocessing principles, I provide effective therapy for chronic pain.
The Stepping Stones Programme is suitable for people living with:
- Chronic or persistent pain
- Pain that has continued beyond injury or medical treatment
- Pain worsened by stress, anxiety, or fear
- Back pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, pelvic pain, or medically unexplained pain
- Pain affecting sleep, confidence, mood, or quality of life
You do not need to believe pain is “all in your head”—because it is not.
Pain is real.
Pain is complex.
And pain can change.
Exciting new neuroscience discoveries show that pain is influenced not only by the body, but also by the brain, nervous system, emotions, stress levels, and learned protective responses. This means many people can experience real improvement through the right therapy for chronic pain.
How this therapy works for chronic pain
The programme is delivered over 8 structured sessions, like stepping stones across water.
You move forward at a pace that feels safe, manageable, and collaborative.
During the programme you will gain:
- A clearer understanding of pain
- Practical skills to calm the nervous system
- Greater confidence in your body
- Tools to reduce fear and flare-ups
- Supportive strategies for sleep and stress
- Renewed hope grounded in evidence
Between sessions, you will receive helpful resources such as guided audio recordings, exercises, and educational material to support progress.
Evidence-based chronic pain therapy online
Modern pain science shows that the brain and nervous system can sometimes become overprotective. Pain signals may continue after healing, or become amplified during periods of stress, fear, fatigue, or when overwhelmed.
The encouraging news is that the nervous system can also learn safety again.
My chronic pain therapy approach focuses on reducing pain-related fear because when fear softens, the nervous system often calms—and pain can become less intense and less distressing.
What makes this approach different?
This integrated programme combines:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Clinical hypnotherapy
- Mindfulness-based strategies
- Pain Reprocessing principles
- Nervous system regulation
- Compassionate psychological support
This is not about battling your body or forcing progress.
It is about helping your body and brain feel safe enough to heal and change.
My approach focuses on reducing pain-related fear, because when fear softens, your nervous system calms down and pain often becomes less intense and less frightening.
We do this by:
- Understanding the complex nature of pain –
Learning how pain works in the brain and the nervous system — and why pain does not always mean damage in the tissues. - Providing reassurance –
Helping your brain feel safer, reducing hyper-vigilance and constant threat monitoring. - Reducing fear-based patterns –
Gently addressing the fear-pain cycle that keeps pain locked in place. - Using hypnotherapy to calm the nervous system
Hypnotherapy helps create a deeply relaxed, focused state — sometimes described as a “sleep of the nervous system” — where the body can let go of tension and respond more easily to positive change. - Blending CBT and Mindfulness
- Enabling you to change unhelpful thoughts about pain, relate differently to sensations, and feel more in control.
- Introducing you to the latest science on how the brain responds to pain and how it can be re-trained.
The aim of this treatment is simple and compassionate. My mission is the relief of pain and suffering

This programme offers a compassionate, evidence-based path — one step at a time
Palliative care support with compassion and calm
I also offer specialist palliative care support informed by more than 30 years of experience in hospice and palliative care settings.
This work is adapted sensitively to the realities of serious illness. The goal is not to deny difficulty, but to reduce suffering and improve quality of life.
Using Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, and supportive pain approaches, palliative care support may help with:
- Anxiety and anticipatory grief
- Emotional distress
- Low mood
- Sleep difficulties
- Coping with uncertainty
- Pain-related fear and tension
- Restoring calm and personal agency
- Focusing on meaning, comfort, and what remains within your control
Where appropriate, pain-reprocessing-informed methods may be used to reduce fear and stress-driven amplification of symptoms—always alongside appropriate medical care.
My approach does not replace treatment. It complements it by helping people live more fully and comfortably, even in the presence of serious illness.
Even small shifts in thoughts, new ways of coping, and increased confidence can make a meaningful difference.
Online sessions from the comfort of home
All sessions are delivered online, preferably via Zoom, allowing you to access support privately and comfortably from your own home.
Sessions typically last 75 minutes.
An 8-session programme is recommended in order to begin seeing meaningful benefits, although therapy is always tailored to your individual needs
A gentle path forward
You do not need to push, force, or battle your body.
Healing often begins when the nervous system feels safe again.
